Experiencing through response to touch

Wendy Rowlands - Shiatsu

‘I love Brazilian music, Fado and the Portuguese language. So full of the rhythm of life!’

Wendy has studied sarangi, singing and meditation in India, and she has worked as an improviser with people's stories in Melbourne’s Playback Theatre.

Wendy's work as a professional musician (initially as a classical violinist after studying at the VCA) led her to explore the finely tuned connections between body movement, breath, inner health, sound, and emotional expression.

‘It’s about integrity. The body reflects back to us who we have been, who we are now, and where we need to be, to grow.’

The essence and pleasure of a Shiatsu is experienced through response to touch.

‘Through touch, giver and receiver become a participants on the pathway to experiencing and allowing energetic change to move and motivate our innate sense of wellbeing and healing.’

Wendy brings to her Shiatsu a gentle, deep, exploratory, and spontaneous quality to this intimate experience, using a variety of bodywork techniques based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, including tui na, cupping, moxibustion and jin shin do.

She will continue to encourage a spirit of celebration in movement and music in our daily lives, and she transcribes music and cooks for fun and relaxation, and loves to travel.

In 1993, Wendy qualified in Shiatsu and Oriental Therapies at the Australian Shiatsu College.
